Don't be a gatorman.  First thing in the link:

Definition of babushka

1a: a usually triangularly folded kerchief for the head
b: a head covering (such as a scarf) resembling a babushka

Yes, so we are neither nitwits in this or we are both. You called me nitwit based on one definition. I called you one because you obviously didn't know the other. My German grandfather used to say go see your Babushka. She hated it and he did it because of that.  Also, I only wear my gator when Im riding the motorcycle when it is cold. Keeps the neck warm.

Hans has an interesting take on everything related to this - essentially that everyone's missing the point:

This was the point I heard Andy McCarthy making to Neil Cavuto on the radio Thursday. They're not after Trump for taking documents. They're after him for perjury. And they will probably get him. The question is whether they indict him before the midterms or let his indictment hang over the mid-terms after the Dems get all the Trump-backed candidates to win their primaries through the multi-million dollar donations and ad buys.

I tend to agree.

Everything about the speech this week - from the optics to the words used - says to me they're going to indict him sooner rather than later. I honestly expected it to happen yesterday. They'll do the whole show, pre-dawn raid, cuffs, and make sure it's captured by news crews. It'll be bs charges he'll beat, but it's the optics that they're after. For the best impact on midterms, they'll have to go before October - but likely won't want to compete with the NFL's opening weekend. I'd wager that it'll be 9/16 or 9/23 (it'll definitely happen on a Friday).

If they arrest him, that means they will feel they have the cheating in place for 2024. I  am not certain why they would think it would help with 2022… possibly the GA Senate seat could be beat? And of course Philly is always a PA bastion of cheating. I am pretty sure the other cheater states cleaned up the mail in voting, etc. And if Lake wins AZ, Arizona will be cleaned up for 2024. (Her people were on hand to stop the primary schenanigans, I am sure they will be for Election Day, too.)

I am trying to figure what would be gained. He will only be turned into a martyr with an arrest, and everyday people will get more pissed off. Maybe they want the US to blow? The regime’s rhetoric certainly has been pressing for it. How many more Ray Epps are out there?

What they stand to gain from this are two things:

(1) They and the media have their round-the-clock boogeyman back. It keeps them from talking about how poorly they're running the country while laundering billions to their buddies every other week.

(2)They Either someone or someones will pop off and do something violent and stupid, or they'll send their fed buddies to look like MAGA is doing something violent and stupid, and with the biggest megaphone at their side, it will be wall to wall coverage right through the mid terms.

I think they care less about 2024 right now than the do having another two years to print shitloads of cash, shutdown their competition, and get us all closer to a socialist state.

I'm not sure it will work, or work the way they intend. But I'll never underestimate the establishment's ability to overreach. I think the calculus they're running is that their base is demanding it and they fear they'll sit out November unless they're given some red meat.

But I'm with you, I don't think they're appreciating the blowback that's coming when/if they do it.

No. I expect an attempted assassination.  Pray for Gods protection on him.

Trump will be indicted before the mid terms

But take into consideration that while Corporate Media and the Government (but I repeat myself) is focusing public attention on a topic, what topic are they diverting attention from?

The midterms.  Specifically election shenanigans.

Republicans will be allowed to take the House.  Even the Washington Generals score a basket.  But not in sufficient numbers as to alter the agenda

The Senate however, is the story we're not supposed to follow.  There will be enough shenanigans to give Democrats 52 or 53 seats.  Enough votes to reliably advance the agenda while providing cover for "moderate" Democrats to vote against the agenda.  And just a hunch, but there will be enough votes and parliamentary shenanigans to finally achieve the Progressive wet dream of eliminating the Filibuster

2a) They'll declare it an act of terrorism.  And by extension, all Trump supporters become terrorists.

Which won't impact the average American too much...but wait'll you see what they do to the House, Senate, and Supreme Court after declaring all political opposition "terrorism."

Former Chicago Times editor breaks it down for you: 10 ways the rise of MAGA is the same as the rise of Hitler.

You have to be truly historically illiterate to cherry-pick 10 lines from Shirer and conclude that MAGA is national socialism

And you have to be completely brainless to use 10 lines that also easily apply to your own party.

LEE SMITH: Why Did the FBI Raid Mar-a-Lago?

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines’ proposed damage assessment of the documents is a remake of the January 2017 intelligence community assessment which claimed, without evidence, that Vladimir Putin wanted to put Trump in the Oval Office. The extensive redactions on the affidavit the FBI used to get a warrant to raid Trump’s home are akin to the excessive redactions on the application that the FBI showed a secret court in 2016 to get a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign. What was true for the original Russiagate holds here, too: The redactions are designed to hide not state secrets, but government corruption.

The Mar-a-Lago raid feels like Russiagate because, well, it is Russiagate: a conspiracy theory weaponized by the country’s courtier class to serve the interests of a delirious and deracinated oligarchy, spawning daily prophesies of doom fed by an endless supply of national security “leaks” asserting that the former commander-in-chief really was and is a secret Russian agent. And proof of the president’s treachery, chant the priestly keepers of the “collusion” mysteries, will soon be revealed to the public. It is their blanket justification for every past crime and every new banana republic-style abuse of power, accompanied by a drumbeat of ever more outlandish and violent threats.

It is in this context that the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago should be understood: Government records and reports from political and media operatives and bureaucrats who previously starred in Russiagate I give evidence that the FBI raided Trump’s home to seize documents exposing the crimes that the FBI and Justice Department have been committing since 2016. The fact that Russiagate shows no signs of ending anytime soon is bad news for the republic, betrayed from within by a performative elite whose ability to project power outside its gilded bubble requires a steady supply of paranoia, fear, and hysteria.

This judge will appoint the special master. Also, Trump's attorneys asked for it the day after the raid. The media and FBI lied (I know you are shocked).

Judge grants Trump bid for special master in document search

In a legal victory for former President Donald Trump, a federal judge on Monday granted his request for a special master to review documents seized by the FBI from his Florida home and also temporarily halted the Justice Department’s own use of the records for investigative purposes.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon authorizes an outside legal expert to review the records taken during the Aug. 8 search and to weed out from the rest of the investigation any that might be protected by claims of attorney-client privilege or executive privilege. Some of those records may ultimately be returned to Trump, but the judge put off a ruling on that question.

The order came despite the strenuous objections of the Justice Department, which said a special master was not necessary in part because officials had already completed their review of potentially privileged documents. The department said it was reviewing the decision.
