You can set "for you" in which you will see tweets that twitter deems you might like based on your other likes and RTs (doesn't always work, last week I got female pr0n and a ton of stuff about the Royal family... neither of which I have ever engaged with), or just "following" where you 'should' only see tweets and RTs from people you follow.
