question to even ask it it was excused. Why would he be “very concerned” if it was an excused absence? He’d just say from the beginning that it was an excused absence, and leave it up to Stefon to comment further on the situation or not when he returns.

IMHO - this is just a situation with a weird guy trying to send some kind of weird message. I think it will resolve itself fairly quickly. 
 

List of possible (irrational) reasons (in no particular order):

 

1) Still upset with how 2022 ended, frustrated he’s had to bite his tongue.  This is his way of venting. 
2) Feels slighted that the Bills added a ton of receiving options in the off-season. 
3) Feels slighted that the Bills had interest in DHop. 
4) Dislikes Dorsey

5) Annoyed he’s not Alpha Dog, that Allen is.

I like to look at it this way: it's the doldrums of the off season, we're headed into the worst part of the sports calendar (no football, no basketball, no hockey, just lots of mid-summer baseball) - so Diggs is giving us the gift of controversy to keep us entertained until Training Camp and real football starts.
