Browns disagree

sure acting like 0 game suspension is expected outcome

Whatever the timing — today or next week or the week after — it’s already too late. And already unfair to the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns opened their training camp this week with the Watson cloud hanging overhead. And it has refused to go away.

This arbitrator has a Fed background so this is likely to move at the speed of Durham.  I’d be surprised though, that whenever the decision is announced, if it is at any time other than a Friday afternoon.  That is in their blood.

Buzbee, cashing out before the verdict of 0 game suspension destroys any remaining setlement value

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/08/01/three-more-deshaun-watson-lawsuits-settle-leaving-only-one-active-case/

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee, who represented two dozen women who sued Watson, told John Barr of ESPN that three of the remaining four active lawsuits against Watson have been settled.

Among those settling is Ashley Solis, the first massage therapist to sue Watson and the first to tell her story publicly.

Or...the NFL and the Browns told Watson to pay his way out of it in return for reduction in punishment.

The NFL can overrule the "ruling" based on the CBA.

Watson can only use massages associated with the Browns.  NFL wanted 12 games and a substantial fine.

So, Bubba is his new masseuse and he is out six games. After this circus. The PR has been horrible for the NFL, and after the big deal made of this in the sporting news the judge did no one any favors with a six game suspension and no fine.

As far as appeal, the NFL should appeal if they feel strongly that the suspension is too lenient. The players association might take it to federal court, but based on what? They signed a contract that allows for the appeal and Goodell to have final say.

I'm curious as to how this soap opera finally ends.  Based on what they did to Ridley, they almost have to throw some weight around here.

The judge did what a typical Fed would do.  She tried to middle it and walk away.  I wonder what they paid her.  Her decision was at least somewhat prompt, I guess I’ll give her that.

Wow that Ben Roethlisberger comparison... Watson should have been suspended at least a year based on that.

Now, I do disagree with them that an accuser's word is gold.  There were no criminal charges after two grand juries (who would indict a ham sandwich). #believeallwomen is bullshit, but there were an awful lot of accusers. The odds that they were all lying? Probably slim.

Maybe Big Ben should not have been suspended for six games? Maybe Watson should have been suspended forever based on  Ben's suspension?  The next move is the NFL's, so we shall see if they appeal.
