I didn't go to law school, but it's our system supposed to be built on the exact opposite of that presumption??

The justice system, yes.  Presumption of innocence applies to court.

Law enforcement tends to not be bound by that.  In part because even a responsible investigator is bound by the need to investigate, not disprove, crimes and collect evidence for such.  An intellectually honest investigatory will be dispassionate about it, but still has an inherent bias towards presuming guilt.

An intellectually dishonest investigator, like Baker, just presumes guilt...and will find evidence proving it.

That seems debatable.  But were it to happen, it would make that trade the Brownsiest thing ever and would have Jest fans breathing a sigh of relief as that's even worse that whatever happens to be the Jetsiest thing ever.

To make it the Brownsiest thing ever, his permanent ban would have to happen after the Browns trade Mayfield and eat most of his contract.

The way he's been throwing picks in camp, it may have nothing to do with the sex charges against him.

If the system works right, the DA wouldn't pursue the case without knowing that there's something to overcome the presumption of innocence what still does exist in Court.  The detective can harbor all the biases she wants.

Yikes. CBS reporting rumors that it’ll be a season long ban - with the door open for more if more suites are filed.

Darn shame they haven't traded Mayfield yet.  As somebody else here pointed out, would make the Brownsiest thing ever raise up to an even higher order of Brownsiness.

Punishment based on the quantity of accusations.  That's a great principle.

I think it's even better if they end up having to crawl back to Baker.....which I'm still not sure they'd do.

With the attention of the Twitter mob only a few minutes at best, the proposal of a speason long suspension will be quickly be accepted as fact to satisfy the mob's blood thirst.

in the real world, Watson will play in 2022 and thereafter, until he actually loses a court case

the deposition of the police officer will cripple any chance of a conviction

In the real world he'd have been fired a long time ago.

The ironic thing is, he could probably still play at about the same level he did several years ago.  It's not like he's going to lose his accuracy or touch!

Nope.  Once you've reached that level of $ and power, the normal rules don't apply.  That world is only reality for the .001%, and doesn't include football players.

but he hasn't been fired yet.

in fact, in most professions, a lot of bad stuff slides if your performance exceeds the baggage.

Are you sure? it would appear as if he was trying to gain as much touch as he could.
