Wondering if Allen's deal forces them to not have as many ST specialists as his bump in pay will come out of some other part of the cap.

They were discussing this Saturday night in the Chiefs game.  Jags had a couple of long kick returns and the announcers mentioned the Chiefs don't carry special teams aces like some of the traditional teams.

Time to evolve, McClappy.

you know how you eliminate long kick returns?

kick the ball out of the end zone

problem solved - no need for 6 or 7 dedicated kick coverage guys taking away roster spots from actual players

Yeah, that's the right call every single time

I can't figure out how absolutely no one thought of this before...

Taiwan Jones

Tyler Matakevich

Tyrel Dodson

Jake Kumerow

4 guys that have no business in the NFL.  Why is it so hard for McDermott to overly complicate things?  You run a base 4-3 so rank you rplayers by their base O/D usefulness and then:

(3) Backup LBs have to be prospective starters but play special teams - Matakevich & Dodson cut for dudes that have more potential.  I am 100% sure that a bubble NFL LB can make a tackle on STs.

(2-3) backup CBs play special teams.  They know how to run & tackle.

(2) backup safeties play special teams. They know how to run & tackle.

(1) bottom WR plays special teams.  Learn how to run & tackle, Diva.

(1) bottom TE plays.  Don't be a Diva.

(1) RB plays.  Run fast and think like a ball carrier.

Boom, roasted.

Come on, his clapping is over the top.  What should I call him, Mr. 13 Seconds?

Setting the clapping issue aside, do you enjoy the super excellent special teams at the expense of the offense & defense players?  That crap has to end, losing Hodgins was stupid over keeping a Taiwan Jones, Dodson, Kumerow, etc.

It's not the name I have an issue with.

It's that lazy, condescending 'call your coach a childish name to vent your frustrations' low-hanging fruit shit-posting you just don't see at this board very much.

You can make your point without sounding like a child. You should give it a try. Or try ATOP. They love that kind of banter over there.

Either way, try harder to contribute to the topic without the need to sound like a child.

not giving Bernard and Spector game experience and special teams work is criminal, in favor of ST only guys.

Ranking NFL's top 100 most valuable players of 2022 season

By Seth Walker, ESPN

buf.png?w=110&h=110&transparent=true 71. Matt Milano, LB, Bills

Milano led all NFL defenders (just beating out Crosby) in a box score-based stat called "Plus-EPA," in which a defender is given the EPA play credit for all positive defensive plays in which they show up in the play-by-play. It's rough and noisy, and it probably overrates some events like fumble recoveries. But to lead the league you have to be productive, and that's exactly what Milano was in 2022.

buf.png?w=110&h=110&transparent=true 97. Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Bills

no write up

Is that so?

The collective IQ of the NFL fanbase is lower than Claude Balls'.  It tells you everything you need to know.  All they know is he's made Pro Bowls, the BILLS have a traditionally highly ranked (overrated) defense, and the analysts always gush over him.

We may not have Tremaine Edmunds to kick around anymore...

TREMAINE EDMUNDS WON'T COMMIT TO A RETURN TO BILLS, SEEMS BOUND FOR FREE AGENCY

</snip>

Was Edmunds interested in returning to the Bills? Or might he let the process take shape?

"I'm gonna let the process take shape," Edmunds told FOX Sports last week in Phoenix at an event for his agency, Athletes First. "You know what I mean? Like, you know, they've been good to me. So I definitely say thank you to the Bills for everything that they've done for me these last five years. But like I said, man, I'm just right now — I'm in the backseat."
