In an ideal world, the GM is under contract for at least 3 more years and the HC 2 more.  Long enough to keep both of them focused on the here and now rather than dreaming about where else they might be.  Still remember how Butler's last year went and how he screwed the team over as much as he could that last year knowing he was gone when the season ended.

I don't blame Butler or anyone else for &#%$ing Ralph over.  While Ralph deserves all the credit in the world for keeping the BILLS in Buffalo, he was notoriously cheap with facilities, coaching staff, and front office people. 

Butler built a really, really good team (Music City Miracle year) despite basically having one hand constantly tied behind his back.  That defense was severely underrated - one of the best in NFL history.

But, had Wilson actually had Butler signed through an additional year we don't see Flowers drafted in the 1st round nor ...  Nor do they end up losing Dwight Adams and the other key scouts when Butler flew the coop.

It is absolutely insane to think that this has anything to do with optics surrounding Diggs, or anyone else for that matter.

 

This is something that has been being looked at, worked on, and planned for, for months if not a year or more in advance.

right when it became apparent that Diggs was not attending and he had "issues"

 

no big deal to push the announcement until Diggs showed at mandatory mini-camp, a happy camper or extremely agitated with the organization.

 

"very concerned" was not a slip of the tongue by McD.

Seems possible that very public messages have been sent to validate that mgmt runs the team, not a certain inmate

Yes. Chuckie and Mayock screwed the pooch on that one. They did ok in the mid rounds, but looks like they had precious few picks that year. Haven’t looked it up, but maybe they traded a bunch of picks to get two in the first round. BOTH of whom are OOTL now.
