The shutdown was talked about earlier in the year. It will end December 31st.

NBC Sports Network to Shut Down by End of 2021, Live Sports Move to USA, Peacock

NBC Sports chief Pete Bevacqua calls decision ”the best strategic next step“ amid shrinking cable bundle

Much of its network’s programming, including the NHL, NASCAR and English Premier League, will move over to USA Network and streaming service Peacock. USA will begin to simulcast some of NBCSN’s games this year until the network winds down completely. The decision also comes as NBC is in its final year under its current NHL rights deal. It’s media deal with the Premier League expires next year.

“We’re all aware of how quickly the media landscape is evolving, and our Company is taking thoughtful steps to stay ahead of these trends wherever possible and, in many instances, help set them,” NBC Sports president Pete Bevacqua said in a memo on Friday. “At the conclusion of 2021, we have decided that the best strategic next step for our Sports Group and the entire Company is to wind down NBCSN completely, with key elements of NBCSN’s programming moving to USA Network and, in some cases, Peacock for 2022 and beyond.”

I'm old enough to remember when streaming was supposed to give consumers a choice over the traditional model of corporate media.

But soon everything will revert back to the old model of NBC (peacock) ABC/Fox (Disney) and CBS (paramount),  with Amazon and Netflix joining the club.

But at least consumers will have the option of how high to climb the pay wall

Step 1: Send your money to a VPN

Step 3: Profit

Until corporate media starts losing money and pays off Congress to crack down on VPNs.

Because using a VPN to connect outside the US will be declared domestic terrorism and stuff

All these injuries make it really clear that if the NFL really cared about the quality and integrity of the game (much less the safety of the players) they would have scaled the season back to 14 games, not increased it to 17.

Fixed.

The NFLPA is, quite possibly, the shittiest union in the country.  And I say that having seen the Al Shanker Memorial Wine Cellar at the American Federation of Teachers HQ.

Does he have an out on his contract or is the assumption just that Seattle will finally recognize they need a full blown rebuild so they might as well trade him?

Not too sure but there might have been a gentleman's agreement last year when they had that kerfuffle over the Oline and rumors of teams he would accept a trade to began popping up.

Seattle might also realize that it is in their best interests to get max value for him because as you point out, they are in need of a massive overhaul.

those nagging injuries keeping one out of the line-up can be a real bitch to plan for
