Just another example of the media stirring shit up.  The Bengals' kicker is already one of the best in the NFL.  9-11 from 50 in the regular season and 14-for-14 in the playoffs but he needs to be better in practice?  Really?

Plus...c'mon, he's a kicker.  Aside from the game not turning on any major kicking strategy halftime adjustments...it's not like he's gassed or achy and needs to be in the locker room getting oxygen or Demerol.

Do you have a poll to support that statement?

Calvin Ridley has been suspended indefinitely, at least through the 2022 season, for violating the NFL's gambling policy, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

The league stated that Ridley bet on NFL games in the 2021 season, during a five-day stretch in late Nov. 2021, when he was away from the team on the reserve non-football illness list.

The Falcons issued the following statement on the action taken against the receiver.

"We were first made aware of the league's investigation on Feb. 9. We have cooperated fully with the investigation since receiving notice and support the league's findings and actions. We are moving forward in the 2022 season with the decision that was made. With the decision that was made by the NFL, any further questions on the investigation should be directed to the league office."

Who can blame him?  You figure he had to do something to make Falcons games interesting.

An entire year for gambling.

He should have just beat his girlfriend and he'd be back in time for camp.

This is talked about, at length, in NFL locker rooms.

This wasn’t a surprise. He knew he wasn’t permitted to do it, and he knew the NFL works with the sports books to track this sort of thing.

He’ll be lucky if he doesn’t get a lifetime ban like Pete Rose.

Cordarrelle Patterson's usage was mildly interesting for the first 10 games or so. Crickets after that.

I get it. It's as stupid as a rich athlete somehow thinking he'll be fine driving home drunk.

As someone who grew up in a household filled with domestic abuse, I just want to see the NFL understand the stupidity of their punishments.

Lose a bet with money you can afford to lose has its issues, but he'll likely be out of the league forever.

But beat a woman, and you'll be back faster pretty effin' quickly.

More to the point, Ray Rice beat his girlfriend and was suspended two games. Tyreek Hill beat a woman who was 8-months pregnant while he was in college and got tossed by the team. But today he's a superstar.

It’s not the NFL’s job to meter out punishments for purely legal issues.

That’s the job of the law.

Guess what? Had Hill gone to prison for a few years, he’d not have been playing football.

The gambling issue however, is central to the integrity of the game.

There are hundreds of billions of dollars at stake; and in this instance the NFL is the law.

This is consistent across all sports. Players who abuse their wives/girlfriends in baseball receive lengthy suspensions, but Pete Rose is serving a lifetime ban.

There are literally signs all over NCAA and pro sports locker rooms and training facilities telling players not to gamble on their own sports, and that they’ll wind up like Pete Rose. There are rookie seminars about it. Organisations regularly warn their players and staff about it.

Thats because it’s normal, non-violent activity which is socially acceptable in every other setting.

Fellony assault is different. Do you have signs in your place of business telling you not to punch your wife? Do your co-workers and boss regularly approach you and remind you not to get all punchy when you get home?

No? I didn’t think so.

that's right.

only the NFL itself can influence the outcome of games.

having other interested parties involved gums up the desired outcomes
