It's so much better now that every team can have a .220 hitter at DH.  There just weren't enough guys in the lineup before swinging for home runs every at bat.  :classic_dry:

The strikeout numbers are unconscionable.

Tony Gwynn struck out 188 times throughout the entire course of the 1990’s.

Four batters struck out at least 189 times *last season*.

But - and I mean this in the most complimentary way possible - Tony Gwynn was a mutant.

A folksy, chubby, adorable mutant.

Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina set the MLB record for most games started as battery mates last night.  It was the 325th time they'd started together.  That record may never be broken.

And I STILL hope they get clipped by a drunk driver for what they did to the Mets in Game 7 of the NLCS.

OK, not really.

But I DO still hate their guts.

Carlos Beltran is still trying to hit that curveball.

Well, that's lame.  I always preferred the detailed game management that went with having a pitcher hit, and having managers worry about more than just pulling them on pitch count.

Which would include bunting, another lost art/strategy.

Wow...he's gonna pass Ruth within 154 games.

I can only imagine what he'd have done with another actual consistent bat in the lineup.

Judge is awesome.

That MFer would have to take the bat off his shoulder first.
