I have no doubt that both Moss and Singletary will produce this year, barring injury. But who do we think will emerge as the #1 back?

I'd guess Moss only because he's a little more versatile, but I think Singletary's shiftiness gives him better upside.

I wonder if Antonio Williams remains a wild card?

He ran awfully hard in his one appearance. I would love to see more of him.

PFF: Bills' Devin Singletary graded as NFL's top RB in preseason

Throughout training camp the Buffalo Bills have said they plan to use the “hot hand” approach in regards to their running back room.

If you’re asking Pro Football Focus, that honor belongs to Devin Singletary heading into the regular season.

According to the football analytics outlet, Singletary was the NFL’s best running back during the exhibition season last month. Singletary’s PFF grade of 90.7 was the top mark they handed out to any rusher:

For Buffalo Bills, Running Back is Suddenly a Position of Strength

Devin Singletary proved himself worthy in the preseason, Zack Moss expects to be better in Year 2 and Matt Breida adds needed veteran presence.

Patience, dedication, understanding and a little bit of luck all were factors in solidifying the Buffalo Bills' running back room this year, turning a position group that ended the 2020 season under a cloud of doubt into a strength heading into the season opener.

General manager Brandon Beane and coach Sean McDermott get credit for the patience. They could have overreacted to the struggles of Devin Singletary last year and decided to use more premium NFL Draft capital on another back, namely Travis Etienne, or spent heavily in free agency. They did neither. ...

only message boards and media hacks wanted Etienne

The Bills braintrust understands what they built at RB and why

not a high draft capital or high salary position in this offense

when the Bills run this year, positive things happen

last year, they mostly got stuffed and it looked ugly

True that, more decisive, down hill running. A beefed up Singletary running with a chip on his shoulder and Moss seems to get better and better with every carry. The balance the Bills RB's are providing is key to taking the O to the next level IMO.

Probably should go in power rankings, but putting it here because it has been a while since the Bills had a "ranked" rushing game:

NFL's top five rushing duos

4. Buffalo Bills

Running backs: Devin Singletary and Zack Moss

The Bills have trotted out a rejuvenated ground game in 2021 after ranking 20th in the league in rushing a year ago. Quarterback Josh Allen is a tremendous threat with his legs and will likely be able to get the offense out of precarious situations by utilizing his running ability, but the improvement of Singletary and Moss five weeks into the season is great to see. The Bills are averaging 140.4 rush yards per contest (fifth in the NFL) and their young running backs have provided some much-needed balance to Brian Daboll's unit. I've seen the most improvement from Singletary, who's averaging 5.2 yards per carry and leads the team in carries and rush yards. Moss has been a major asset in the red zone with a team-high three rush TDs.

Sans the one drop by Moss in the KC game, they're also big threats catching the ball out of the backfield and are pretty tough for one guy to get on the ground once they get into the open field.

There was one play on the TD drive (run to the left) where we really did a terrible job blocking anything...and Moss still got 12 yards because he either made guys miss or easily broke their tackles.  It's like the injury last season just pissed him off.
